62nd Eurovision Song Contest was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. Salvador Sobral from Portugal won the Contest. Croatia was represented by Jacques Houdek's song "My friend" and made very good result!

After Russia has been disqualified foe Julia Samoylova's illegal entry to Crimea back in 2014, 42 countries have participated to the 2017 Contest with Romania and Portugal as returnees.

International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv was the venue of 62nd ESC. The same format has been applied to this edition with 2 semi-final shows (May 9 and 11) and one Grand Final (May 13, 2017).

Qualifiers from the 1st semi-final (marked yellow in table) are: Sweden, Australia, Belgium, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Greece, Poland, Moldova, Cyprus and Armenia.
Qualifiers from the 2nd semi-final (also marked yellow in table) are: Austria, Romania, Netherlands, Hungary, Denmark, Croatia, Norway, Belarus, Bulgaria and Israel.

Portuguese representative Salvador Sobral was in lead during major part of the voting and thus gained 758 points leaving young Bulgarian Kristian Kostov (615) and "Sunstroke project" from Moldova (374) behind.

Portugal received 18 "douze points", 4 were awarded to Bulgaria, 3 to Sweden and 2 for Belarus, Netherlands, Italy, Azerbaijan and Greece.

Croatian representative Jacques Houdek's song "My Friend" was very well accepted by the audience. Whilst jury awarded him with only 23rd place in ranking, the "televote" risen Jacques to the final rank as 13th position (he managed to reach Severina's rank from Athens).

Jacques was accompanied on stage by Edgar Rupena, Alen Djuras and Matija Cvek as back-vocalists and Emanual Pavon and Antun Stasic as musicians.
